Event update: Protecting Women & Girls |
||
|
The Metropolitan Police is working hard, through our Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) Action Plan, to apprehend sexual offenders, improve women and girls' safety, and rebuild trust and confidence in the Police.
Alongside partners at the Safer Business Network and Westminster Council, St James's Ward Officers held an engagement event in Leicester Square this week raising awareness of this important issue.
Using virtual reality technology and software developed by Moonhub in partnership with the Met, STAND:UP VR places users in a real-life VAWG scenario, encouraging them to make choices, challenge behaviour, and walk away with practical, lasting skills. The West End, with its bustling night-time economy, is often a hot spot for crimes perpetrated against women so this invaluable educational activity was brought right to the heart of the community to shine a spotlight on the issue and make a real difference.
Our mission under the New Met for London Plan is to deliver More Trust, Less Crime and High Standards. With the VAWG ACTION PLAN, published in 2023, we commit to transforming how we protect the public from harm and how we combat Violence Against Women and Girls, largely committed by predatory men.
If you need to make a report you can do so anonymously HERE or with the Police directly HERE. If you have a concern about a friend, colleague, family member or neighbour, call 999 in an emergency or speak to your Neighbourhood Policing Team. We are here to help.
Look out for more VAWG events throughout the year which will be advertised on Met Engage.
